For a grown-up Speaking is the one skill nothing on this page can mark, because marking it would mean listening to her — and this site does not listen. So it works two ways. On the tablet she can run it alone: the page reads each prompt aloud, times her turn, and then offers a model answer to compare herself against. Printed, it becomes your card: the same prompts, what to listen for in her answer, and the marks. The card is the better version if you have ten minutes, because the real test is a conversation with a person. Note that unlike the real exam this paper never asks her name, her age or her school — the page is public, and nothing here should teach a child that a website asks for those.

Part 1 — Find the differences (5 marks)
Look at the two pictures. They look the same, but five things are different. Tell me what is different.

Part 2 — The cat and the kite (4 marks)
Look at the four pictures. They tell a story. I will start it, and then you tell me the rest.
The examiner says“These four pictures tell a story. It is called 'The cat and the kite'. Look at all four pictures first. In the first picture, a cat is sitting under a tree, and a kite is flying high in the sky. Now you tell me the story.”

A cat was sitting under a tree, and a kite was flying in the sky.
Then the wind blew very hard, and the kite flew into the tree.
The cat climbed up the tree because it wanted to get the kite.
The cat got the kite down, and now it is very happy.
Part 3 — Which one is different? (3 marks)
Look at each row of four things. Tell me which one is different, and why it is different.
